MATES partner Lucía Santiago Caamaño (University of A Coruña, Spain) will present MATES at the upcoming Innovating Higher Education (I·HE) 2021 Conference. The I·HE 2021 conference, which takes place in University of Bari, Italy, from 3 to 5 November 2021, focuses on trends and high impact factors in global and European higher education. This year’s theme is: ‘Higher Education in the new normal: the role of online, blended and distance learning’.
Lucía’s presentation “Current state of MOOC recognition in Europe” will focus on a review of the current recognition system of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) in Europe. In addition, case studies of European countries will be discussed. In MATES, University of A Coruña developed and tested a Pilot Experience that aimed to address the common problem of the mismatch of skills acquired through education and the needs of companies. The course, delivered through a MOOC, addresses the main concepts of Industry 4.0 from the perspective of its application to shipbuilding. During the course the application of technologies such as Internet of Things or IoT, Big Data, Data Analytics and Data Mining, Augmented Reality or Mixed Reality systems, Additive Manufacturing or 3D Printing, Cybersecurity, Collaborative Robots and Simulation in the sector were analysed. These technologies were not only considered independently, but also how they are integrated both horizontally and vertically in the entire production process in the naval sector.
